5 Subliminal Beginner Mistakes (And What To Do Instead)

Whether you are new to using subliminals or have been using them for a while, we all have made beginner’s mistakes at some point. In this guide, I will highlight the 5 most common mistakes that I wish I knew before I started using subliminals – so you don’t have to make them!

Table of contents:

Beginner mistake #1: Giving up too soon

The most common mistake being made is giving up way too soon. Subliminal affirmations are effective when they are being used consistently, everyday. In order to reprogram the subconscious mind to a new belief, we need to constantly impress our subconscious mind with this new intention.

Just like teaching yourself a new habit or learning a new skill, transforming your past beliefs into new, positive beliefs (that are in alignment with your goals) usually doesn’t happen overnight. The speed of this process mostly depends on how big the gap between your past belief and the new belief that you are trying to implement is. If you have been holding onto negative beliefs for a long time, it will take the time needed to change them.

So, what to do instead?

Stay consistent, and don’t give up on your subliminal playlist when you’re not seeing instant results. Beware of impatience, as it is a sign of lack. Stick to your subliminals for at least a month before you drawing any unnecessary conclusions. If you still don’t see your desired results (or any sign at all), it is sign to reflect on what you really want and where you actually stand.

Beginner mistake #2: Not understanding what a subliminal is beforehand

Subliminals are manifestation tools, more specifically, tools to reprogram our subconscious mind and improve our mindset. While it is not necessary to believe in a higher power or even manifestation itself, it has been proven that combining manifestation methods with subliminals is highly effective. This is why understanding the laws of attraction is quite handy when it comes down to using subliminals and achieving your goals and why many people preach it.

Subliminals help us achieve our goals faster because they help us getting into alignment with what we want. The hidden affirmations transform how we perceive the world, how we think and stimulates the subconscious into taking positive action. Understanding that they are just tools (and not meant to be put on a pedestal or seen as magical things), and that the true power lies within yourself, are very important if you want to use subliminals to their highest potential. If you are not sure what a subliminal exactly is, I have written an article about what you should know: What Are Subliminals (And Why They Work For Everyone)

Tip: Educate yourself about the laws of attraction, law of assumption and manifestation itself to get the most out of your daily affirmations. If you’re unfamiliar with the laws of attraction, you can directly get started by reading The 7 Laws of Attraction: Explained here. Another kind reminder a belief in the Universe, or any other Higher Power, is not a requirement for subliminals to do their work.

Beginner mistake #3: Constantly switching subliminals

Constantly switching subliminals is not something you want to do if you actually want to receive accurate (and fast) results. Especially if you’re switching subliminals quite frequently, use tons of different affirmation styles and/or trying to manifest multiple things at once.

Accurate manifestations require clear intentions.

Besides not being consistent, constantly switching affirmations (or even desires) will not help you reprogram your subconscious mind the way you intend to. Like mentioned before, subliminal affirmations become more effective the more you repeat them and stay consistent to them. We have to keep impressing our subconscious mind with our intention in order to successfully align with our goals.

While it is possible to manifest multiple things at once, if you have trouble getting results, I strongly suggest deciding on what you desire most at the moment. Stick to your goal until you have achieved it. Don’t overflood your subconscious with different directions and suggestions, as you will only confuse yourself. Get clear on what you want.

Also, staying consistent to the subliminals you listen to gives you a perfect overview of what creators work best and what kind of affirmations you are most responsive to. Want to read more about how to use subliminals correctly? Read Subliminal Beginner’s Guide: How To Use Subliminals.

Beginner mistake #4: Obsessing over when results will show up

This is a classic beginner’s mistake; we all have been there at some point. Being skeptical if the subliminal really works, being impatient about when your results will show up or even worried if they will show up are all part of this.

When we keep thinking about what we don’t have, we keep residing in a state of lack. When you are obsessing over results, or constantly checking for changes, it’s a sign you are not in complete alignment with your desire. Besides that, you are blocking the subliminal affirmations from actually reprogramming your subconscious mind.

If you keep thinking, feeling and telling yourself the opposite of what you want to have or want to see, it’s going to be a lot harder to transform your past beliefs into new ones that support and align with your desires. Your conscious thoughts feed your subconscious, and your subconscious reflects it right back at you – so pay attention to how you act, feel and think, and don’t obsess over results.

If you have trouble letting go from constantly checking for results, detachment might be a solution for you. Read The Power of Detachment: Simple Guide if you’re interested.

Beginner mistake #5: Neglecting self-concept

Do you actually feel like you deserve your desires? Or do you catch yourself feeling sad, nauseous or doubtful when thinking about what you want to achieve?

Just like obsessing over results, constantly telling yourself you are not worthy of your desire, or that it isn’t meant for you somehow, are all blocking you from actually getting what you want. If you are aware you experience negative feelings around what you are trying to achieve or manifest into your life, it’s important to work through those issues first. Do not underestimate this.

Ask yourself why you are feeling like this and try to pinpoint where these emotions stem from. This will be a process of healing, as well, so this might be a little confronting. However, doing some inner work is required when we want to see positive results in our life. Focus on enhancing your self-concept if you haven’t already. Not only so your conscious mind won’t block any subliminal affirmations you listen to, but mostly because taking care of yourself should be your top priority. This one literally has no reversal.

Takeaway

By now, you are fully aware of the mistakes most of us (including myself) have made when just starting out with using subliminals to improve in some way. Mind that these mistakes are not anything to be ashamed of! It’s all part of the process, and it took me quite long before I got caught up on all this.
